Why should I choose
a private health-care company when the BC Government already
supplies services in the home?
The
BC Government does provide services to people in the home, however
with increasing cutbacks to medical
services there are limits on what they can provide. You may want
to check with them before considering a private health
care company just to find out what services you are eligible
for.

Why call We Care for services?
- We provide the services you need - when you want
them - with well-qualified health-care professionals.
- We do a complete assessment of your health-care
needs so you have the best information to choose the services
you want.
- You decide when you want to increase, decrease,
or stop services - not someone else. We respect your wishes.
- We have immediate access to all the medical equipment
and supplies you may need for professional care at home.
- We liaise
with other health-care team members (doctors, physiotherapists)
involved
in your care, and keep you
informed.
Isn't
the cost of private health care more than most people
can afford?
That is a common
misconception. Often a person only needs short term assistance.
Private in-home health care can
actually be very cost effective, especially if it allows you to
be at home with family and friends.
Health care is a very personal thing. As such, you
can call us for a confidential in-home needs assessment to help
you select the kind of care you want.
Why should I call We Care when
I can call 9-1-1 for immediate help?
Certainly in a medical crisis you should call 9-1-1
for emergency help. However after the crisis is over and you need
continued care or if you need to have someone to call for non-emergency
help, the We Care staff will be there for you.
Call us to see how easy it is to receive the care
you need.
Can you really set up a hospital
ward in the home?
Absolutely! We Care has access to all the medical
equipment and supplies required to transform your home into a hospital-like
room. Our professional staff will provide the nursing and homemaking
support in the comfort of your own home. This way you can avoid
extensive hospital stays for recuperation or monitoring reasons.
How quickly can I receive the
care I want?
We can provide the assessment and initial care
within a few hours during normal working hours. If the assessment
has been done previously, then care can be provided within a couple
of hours of your call. Then once the initial care is in place we
can help you to decide how much care you want and for how long.
For security
reasons, our nurses only provide in-home services after a "needs assessment" has
been completed and arrangements agreed upon. You can receive care
for a couple
of hours or around the clock. Our service is available on a 24-hour
basis (after the assessment).
Medical equipment and supplies can be delivered
to you anytime day or night within a couple hours of your call
- from walkers and commodes to hospital beds and I.V. poles - and
everything in between - including adult incontinent supplies.
What if I don't want services
any more - are there any penalties for stopping service?
There are no penalties. You may terminate services
anytime you wish. We provide the services you want, when you want
them. If you want to stop services then that is your choice and
we will respect that choice.
Why shouldn't I just hire my
own individual care provider?
That is certainly an option for you - it may even
be a little bit cheaper. However you may find that the little money
saved may cause more headaches than you thought.
Here are a few reasons to consider using We Care
Home Health Services.
No interrupted
service: If our nurse or homemaker
becomes ill we will make sure another qualified person fills in
for them.
No worries
about staff background: We make
sure that all our staff have their current licenses or certificates
and that they have passed a police check for your peace of mind.
This is your dishonesty protection.
Extra support
if needed: We will provide
extra staff if required and we will make sure that any person providing
care for you know what you want and don't want.
Someone to
answer your concerns: If for some
reason you are not happy with your care provider you may call our
supervisors who will cheerfully look after your concerns. If needed,
another suitable person will be introduced to you to look after
your needs - no problem!
No staffing
responsibilities: We Care hires
and manages all your nursing, personal care and homemaking staff.
We look after all their government forms and legal obligations.
All you need do is hire We Care and then receive your care with
peace of mind.
However, if you hire someone yourself, you then
become his or her employer. As such, you are responsible for submitting
government remittances, T4 slips, vacation pay, and so on. You
are also legally responsible for Worker's Compensation Board coverage.
If you fire someone, or someone injures himself or herself, then
they could sue you.
Avoid these problems by hiring We Care Home Health
Services to look after your staffing needs. We look after all the
staff details and responsibilities giving you peace of mind.
